As Disney Cruise Line prepares to leave the UK later this summer, we are starting to review the health and safety protocols that will be in place.

Details on upcoming Disney cruises

Previously, Disney Cruise Line had announced that it would be holding a series of cruises to nowhere from the UK this summer. The “Disney magic at sea, staycation crossings will last two to four nights for UK residents only, departing from Liverpool and Southampton.

These UK crossings will be open for booking for Gold and Platinum Castaway Club members on April 28, 2021. Silver members will be able to book on April 29 and bookings will be open to all UK residents on April 30.

Now, Disney Cruise Line has introduced a new webpage with information specifically for these crossings, and it includes details that had not been announced before. Probably the most important? Disney will require all passengers 18 and older to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 at least seven days before boarding.

In addition, all passengers must present a negative COVID-19 PCR taken between 5 days and 24 hours before the day of boarding, whether or not they have been vaccinated. Once passengers arrive at the terminal on the day of boarding, another test, this time a rapid antigen test, will be administered prior to boarding.

Other onboard health and safety protocols will include improved cleaning procedures, physical distancing and the use of masks for all passengers aged 11 and older, except when eating, swimming or in their cabins. The website notes that masks can also be removed when taking photos outdoors, but physical distance should be maintained.

Like many other lines, Disney will also take advantage of its Navigator smartphone app to help with the physical distance of everyone on board. Interestingly, it looks like Disney will require reservations for free experiences that usually go the way you want, including kids’ clubs, the fitness center, and various live shows. Virtual queues will be used for equipment, including the Goofy Pool Deck area and the AquaLab Deck area.

These two points are cited directly from Disney’s new webpage for UK cruises in a list of new app features:

  • Virtual queue: In an effort to promote physical distance and facilitate planning, capacity at some venues, such as Goofy’s Pool Deck area and AquaLab Deck area, will be managed through our new virtual queue system. easy to use.
  • Advance reservations for free experiences: To help manage capacity and meet physical distancing requirements, you will need to book free experiences, such as sessions for our West-End-style live shows, time in youth clubs, and visits to the gym. sport, from 30 days before departure. directly through the app.

Other new features in the app include a mandatory daily health questionnaire and customer services live chat functionality so that many passengers do not need to queue at the customer service desk.
